As you can see, I have bought a lot from her over the years. Bow Sparrow Studioīelow are pieces from Abbie Preston of Box Sparrow Studio. I have gotten to know all these artists and they are not only very talented and passionate about their art but they are also some of the nicest people you could ever meet. It is a slow process but the results are worth it. Every dish, bowl, mug, and vase is made one at a time – hand formed and thoughtfully shaped and glazed. Since I started exploring food photography four years ago, I have met several local ceramic artists who produce beautiful pieces by hand. This leads me into the second half of the post title – supporting local makers. So, even though this recipe has the extra steps of making the vanilla-cardamom simple syrup and frothing the milk, I consider them to be part of the calming process. Even the simple act of stirring in milk and sugar can be therapeutic. There is something soothing about watching the curls of steam rising when I pour the hot water into the mug and seeing the tea slowly infuse into the water. When I need to sit and think, I make a cup of tea. When I need to slow down, I make a cup of tea. When I need to reset, I make a cup of tea. However, let’s get back to talking about making tea.įor me, making a cup of tea is a form of therapy. Thus, the really long name of London Fog Tea Latte with Vanilla-Cardamom Simple Syrup. I had considered naming this the Bedouin Fog but considering there really isn’t fog in the desert, I didn’t think anyone would get it but me. I decided to add cardamom after drinking a lot of cardamom infused tea on our recent trip to Egypt and Jordan and loving the flavor it added. The typical London Fog is made with earl grey tea, vanilla, and steamed milk. First, here’s a recipe for an earl grey tea latte (also known as the London Fog). Serve immediately.With the upcoming holiday season, I wanted to post a recipe that provides a little calm but also give you some food for thought before all the craziness kicks into full swing next week. You can add more sugar if you like your tea sweeter. Pour the hot milk from underneath the foam into the cup, and top with the milk foam. ![]() Then spoon the foam onto the top of the latte. Steam the milk and pour it into the mug of hot tea, holding back the foam with a spoon. Afterward, remove the teabag and discard it. Heat water to simmering and then add it to the mug to allow the tea bag to steep. ![]() Remove the pan from heat and allow the vanilla bean to steep for 15-20 minutes. Add the vanilla simple syrup and earl grey tea bag to a mug. Boil for about a minute or two, just until the sugar is completely dissolved. Toss in the vanilla bean and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Pour the tea into a cup, add the vanilla flavored sugar, and stir. Combine equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan. If you want milk foam on your latte use a frother or immersion blender to make the foam. I use a loose leaf tea filter, so I don’t have to strain the tea. ½ -1 teaspoon vanilla flavored sugar* or ½ teaspoon sugar + ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean pasteīrew earl grey tea with lavender buds, letting it steep for about 5 minutes. And it is highly addictive.ġ teaspoon loose leaf earl grey tea or 1-2 bags earl grey tea (depending on how strong you like your tea!) A sweet tea with milk, but a gourmet version. The London Fog Tea Latte is what I would call Sunday Tea. Slowly I skipped the milk and sugar, and only had it in my tea as a special treat, and we called it Sunday Tea - Søndagste. As a teenager I drank a lot of tea, and often I had it with milk and sugar. As a coffee drinker, I’m not up to date with the new tea trends, so this one hit me this year, and its not a new trend - far from. ![]()
